About Mark Kollath
I, Mark Kollath, IL license # 450.002293, am based in Chicago. I am a qualified
NACHI and InterNACHI inspector offering myself for your consideration. I am fully
insured for liability, and I produce a computer generated report in PDF format with
digital photos and a summary page, easy to read and understand, usually delivered
within 24 hours. This allows my clients to transmit the report to all concerned parties
immediately. I enjoy my work, but have a no- nonsense attitude about client service.
Read the contract on my contact page. It spells out my services in detail and does
not refer to a remote web site or any other material outside of itself. Your report is
your property and I will not tender it to any party not specified in writing by you. I am
not working for your real estate agent and I will not sell you home repairs, alarm
systems, or an appliance warranty. I will not limit the scope of my inspection to save
you money, but I will not sell you services I don't believe you need.
I service the area from Chicago North through Lake County.
I am proud to let my own name stand for the work I do.
Licensing of home inspectors only sets a minimum standard. Much like being up to
code, any less would be illegal. That is why I have worked to become a member of
the InterNational Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI), formerly
known as NACHI. As an InterNACHI member, I:
● Pass InterNACHI’s Online Inspector Examination annually. This general, not
association- specific exam is an industry standard required by InterNACHI and some
state licensing boards,
●Adhere to the industry’s largest, most comprehensive Standards of Practice,
●Abide by InterNACHI’s Code of Ethics,
●Follow a strict continuing education policy that requires, among other things, that I
receive 24 hours of continuing education each year,
●Have completed InterNACHI’s ethics “obstacle course which ensures that I am aware
of my ethical duties as a home inspector,
●Have passed InterNACHI’s Standards of Practice Quiz,
●Have signed and submitted an affidavit legally agreeing that I have and will continue
to adhere to all InterNACHI standards, ethics, and education requirements,
●Maintain a continuing education log that is verified by InterNACHI,
●Successfully completed InterNACHI’s comprehensive Standards of Practice course
and examination, Roofing course and examination, and Electrical course and
●Attend at least one chapter meeting or educational seminar every two years,
●Have access to the Inspector’s Quarterly so I can keep up-to-date on all the latest
issues in the home inspection industry,
●Have access to a free report review and mentoring service, and
●Provide access to a free consumer hot-line.
Correction: Previously this page stated that a portion of my reports was submitted to
InterNACHI for review. Illinois state law states that the report is your property and I
have not the right to submit, in whole or part, without express permission in writing, to
any other party, and that is, and has always been, my policy.
If you need a home inspection performed, don't settle for anything less than an
InterNACHI-certified home inspector. Contact me
now to schedule your inspection.
